Fort Seward - Haines, Alaska

Fort Seward, named in honor of the secretary of state William H. Seward, who negotiated the purchase of Alaska from Russia in 1867. Later renamed Chilkoot Barracks, Fort Seward was the first permanent Army post in the territory.
